SteriMed Junior

OPERATION of the SteriMed-Junior is relatively simple and can be operated with minimal training.

The SteriMed Junior can process a large variety of medical waste, chemically treating approximately 240 pounds per day (14 kg per hr.) of bagged waste.

The SteriMed Junior system is designed for smaller facilities due to its reduced size and capacity. The SteriMed Junior treats contaminated medical waste on site. The resultant disinfected, shredded waste is safe for disposal in ordinary trash receptacles. This is done in a cost effective, safe, environmentally friendly manner.

Mode of Operation
STAGE 1 - The operator places the untreated waste in the receiver.
STAGE 2 - The loading door is closed and the cycle "start" is initiated.
STAGE 3 - The first phase of the decontamination is the introduction of water and the decontaminating detergent Ster-Cid® into the untreated waste.
STAGE 4 - The next step of operation is the "shred" phase. The SteriMed Junior will use its cutting teeth to shred and reduce the size of the material to a granular consistency, with particle size being approximately 0.5 to 1.5 cm. (¼ to ½ inch) in size, exposing all particles to the decontaminating solution.
STAGE 5 & 6 - The final step of the operation are the "discharge and unloading" phases. This phase takes approximately 1 minute. The receiver bucket of the SteriMed Junior transfers the treated waste into a filter bag. The treated material is rinsed and the liquid drains from the bag. When the liquid is adequately drained an the filter bag is full, the treated material can be disposed of as regular 'black bag' waste.
