MCM's SteriMeds are closed systems designed for on-site processing of infectious medical waste. SteriMeds shred biomedical waste into small pieces (reducing the volume by up to 90%) while simultaneously exposing the waste to a US EPA registered, proprietary chemical disinfection solution called Ster-Cid®.

The shredded, disinfected solid waste is now simply discarded as ordinary garbage; the diluted, biodegradable chemical solution is drained into the sewer system.
